In almost 35 years of his successful cosmetic surgery practice, Dr. Larry Schlesinger has never worked a day in his life.  How is that possible?!  Well, as the saying goes, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.”  And he wholeheartedly loves what he does – his patient reviews confirm it.

His passion for artistic creativity combined with his dedication to serving and reaching excellent with his patients, Dr. Larry Schlesinger is one of the leading Hawaii breast implants doctors in Hawaii.  It all started with his practice in Maui, then over to Kona back in the early 80’s, and now a full surgical center on Oahu – the Mommy Makeover Institute of Hawaii.  In all of his years of practice with three offices combined, Dr. Schlesinger of the Breast Implant Center of Hawaii and Mommy Makeover Institute of Hawaii has successfully performed over 20,000 surgeries with 60% of them being done on breasts – breast augmentations, breast lifts and breast reductions.

Here are a couple of questions asked of Dr. Schlesinger regarding breast augmentations –

  1. Have you seen a significant change in size of implants with respect to breast augmentations since your professional practice began? Meaning per your slogan, Size Does Matter, would you typically say that women want big or average breast size?

“Since I began my practice in the 1980’s, I have seen a significant rise in the number of ccs per breast implant.  In the 1980’s, women tended to want nothing bigger than a 250 cc implant.  Today, my patients routinely request 450 – 500 cc implants.”

In a recent ABC News article – Breast Augmentation:  Smaller Implants becoming a bigger trend (http://abcnews.go.com/liftstyle/breastaugmentation-smaller-implants-bigger-trend/story?id=29273067), we just had to see where Hawaii stood, and it appears from Dr. Schlesinger’s experience that this is not the case in Hawaii.

  1. What is the most significant reason for choosing axillary breast incision for breast augmentation?

“Choosing the axillary incision for breast augmentation gives the patient no visible scar, gives the surgeon the ability to lift the pectoralis muscle off the 5th rib with no chance of injuring the lung, gives the surgeon a greater ability to choose where the inframammary fold should fall than a crease or inframammary incision would.  There is also less chance of infection in a transaxillary breast augmentation than a periareolar breast augmentation.”

If you’ve ever had a scar, showing it off is the last thing anyone would want to do.  Dr. Schlesinger has mastered the skill of the transaxillary breast augmentation and the “well hidden” almost invisible scar.

As a side note, Dr. Schlesinger’s choice of axillary incision helped save a woman’s life, detecting a breast cancer tumor in its early stages.  You can watch her story here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXF7cY_my2Q

From his online patient reviews to his online ratings on websites such as RealSelf, and eMerit, Hawaii Board Certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Larry Schlesinger has consistently gone beyond the call of duty, and if you’re ever thinking about having your breasts done, here’s some expert advice from the doctor himself.

Choose a Board Certified plastic surgeon and be sure that he (there are no femals plastic surgeons in Hawaii) is a member of the Aesthetic Society, be sure that the anesthesiologist if Board Certified, and always remember to choose the surgeon and not the specifics of the procedure.  The way to choose a plastic surgeon is to look at his before and after pictures on the internet.  This will indicate technical skill and, if the pictures are attractive, an artistic eye.  They should also read the online reviews to see if the surgeon shows care and concern for each patient.  Finally, they should consult with at least three plastic surgeons and let their gut tell them which one has heart because at the end of the day, a surgeon who cares about you as an individual will give you a better outcome.
