Riders on Honolulu's bus and rail systems will pay higher fares beginning July 1, marking a notable shift in the cost of public transit across Oahu. The fare increases affect both TheBus and the Skyline rail line.

The adult monthly pass rises from $80 to $90, the annual pass from $880 to $990, and the single-ride cash fare from $3 to $3.25, while the seven-day visitor pass jumps from $35 to $45, a 28.5% increase. The City and County of Honolulu Department of Transportation Services said the changes are projected to generate roughly $4 million in additional annual revenue against a transit budget trending toward $470 million.
